Upgrade in the same store where you bought your current subscription - the App Store or Google Play.
Important: if you subscribe in a different store, cancel the old subscription yourself. Otherwise you'll be charged twice, as Apple and Google manage subscriptions separately. See how to cancel your subscription.
On iPhone or iPad
Apple charges you the full price of the new plan, then refunds the unused part of your old one.
Example: you buy a yearly Basic plan in January and upgrade to Standard in June. Apple charges you for Standard and refunds six months of Basic - about half of what you paid.
On Android
Google converts what's left of your old plan into time on the new one. Because the new plan costs more, that buys you a shorter period.
Example: you buy a yearly Basic plan in January and upgrade to Standard in June. Google works out what the remaining six months of Basic are worth and gives you Standard for that value - around 2.5 months. After that, your yearly Standard subscription starts and runs for a full year.
