VAT and tax

Change your vat, tax settings (IRPF, HST) or fiscal year

Updated over a week ago

You can enter 3 tax rates and use them in your documents and items (services and products). You can change the tax name if needed.

When you sign up, we set up your tax rate and tax name based on your location - however you can change it anytime later.

Navigate to โš™ Settings - /tax name/ settings and select VAT settings on the top menu.

The setting is also available when you create an item for your first invoice:

  • The VAT-name and rates are based on your current country settings

  • If necessary, turn on Apply tax on invoices - once turned on, all your next invoices and statistics will be displayed with VAT

  • You can enter 3 vat rates, which are available for you while creating invoices or items. A vat 0% rate will always be available for you.

  • You can also change the VAT name if necessary

  • You can change the Financial/fiscal year start - by changing it, the date filter This year and Last year will show invoices for that specific tax year

  • Save the settings

Tax in items

Please note: Changing the tax doesn't alter your saved items

If you need to set another tax rate for your saved items, you have to change it in the Items section.

Tax invoice

In some countries, it is required to state "Tax invoice" on your invoices if your company is VAT registered. Once you select "Invoices with VAT" you will find the text "Tax invoice" on your invoice. This feature is automatically turned on for US, UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.
